cant identify plant

Question

Hey Darlene,
I just found this website and love it! I was actually trying to figure out the difference between the "green sweet potato vines" and the purple ones. I recently bought a sweet potato to plant. I have sprouts and they are purplish in color. So, when I was researching that, I came across an article on the prayer plant. Well I recently got two new plants and had no idea what they were. I searched for a couple of hours the other night on the internet and couldn't find a single thing. Well, come to find out, one of the plants was the Prayer Plant. So that solves that mystery, but I still have one more plant. I don't know if you'll be able to see it well enough, but some of the leaves look like "camouflage" so here is the picture. Also, if you know what I was talking about regarding the sweet potato vine, that would be awesome!

Thank you for your time,
Tara

Answer
Tara,

Your camouflage plant is a Chinese Evergreen. It likes to get dry between watering. It doesn't like sun but does like bright light.

The only difference between the green and purple is the purple is more ornamental and potatoes from it may not taste good. Other wise they are just different varieties like different varieties of sunflowers. They are 2 different hybrids.

If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck!
