sago palm-houseplant

Question
sago palm
sago palm
my plant has these long pieces coming out of the center and they are not frones plus my leaves are turning yellow please help me.

Answer
Hi Kathy,

I cannot see clearly what you are describing. The stems are either fronds that have not received enough light or they are stems that produce seeds. In either case, you should probably cut them off as they will serve no useful purpose for your plant.

Sago Palms do require lots of direct sunlight and should be kept in small pots that dry out quickly after each watering. Yours is in a pot that is larger than ideal. Be sure that the soil dries halfway deep into the pot before adding any water.
