Pruning and drying herbs

Question
I've read some your responses but I'm still confused. I have oregano, basil, and peppermint in my first indoor garden. When you say brune 1/3 of the new growth, do you mean just leaves or including the stems? What's the best way to dry these herbs for future use?

Many thanks!

Answer
Fay:
The 1/3 branch is included with the leaves. I dry them by placing in a paper bag. Place in a dry warm place. Check every 2 weeks by shaking the bag and feeling the leaves for dryness. When they crumble from your touch, then place in a blender and puree until a powder form is made or less if you want more firmer leaves. Put into jars and store out of the light. Be sure they are good and dry before storing.
