Lance leaf sundew : is this enough light.

Question

Lance leaf sundew
Hi allexperts,

I have a lance leaf sundew that I am curious whether it is getting enough light. I have it under flourscents lights for 12 hours a day.  Attached is a photo of the plant.  I hope you get.

Sincerely,

Weylin

Answer
Hi Weylin,

Yes, your plant is getting lots of light.  The tentacles are red and the plant is producing lots of dew.  Those are signs are good lighting.

I noticed that you have your sundew in an enclosure.  It's not at all necessary to keep it in there.  I grow a lance leaf sundew in my kitchen window.  It faces south and gets lots of light during the winter months.  I've been growing it there for 2 years and had already divided it once.  Absolutely no terrarium necessary.

The humidity issue is really a myth, and we debunk it in our upcoming DVD, Grow Carnivorous Plants Volume 2.  In this DVD we cover tropical sundews and Mexican butterworts.  We anticipate the DVD will be released in mid to late November.

Good growing!
