QUESTION: What things can I put in the bottom of my tray to increase local humidity for my CPs?

ANSWER: Hi John,

This is typically done by putting small pebbles such as pea gravel in the tray.  As the water evaporates, the rock increases the surface area exposed to evaporation.  You can also increase local humidity (I'm assuming you're trying to do this for Nepenthes; you didn't say what you were growing.) by adding other houseplants to the area such as Philodendron and other big leaf plants.

QUESTION: Could I use long fiber sphagnum moss instead of pebbles? The type of moss I'm talking about is used as a nepenthes substrate.

Hi John,

You can use long-fiber sphagnum.  It quickly gets both algae covered and often molds when constantly wet, especially if it's in a house.  Pebbles tend to be cleaner.
