Peat moss question

Question
I purchased a bale of Canadian Peat Moss from a local Lowes several months ago.  It's still in its original packaging, unopened in a tightly-bound plastic, and I further wrapped it up in a large (clean) garbage bag.

How long can I keep it like this?  Will it go bad?  I have it stored in a cool, dry location outside.  It doesn't get wet nor is it exposed to any sunlight.

Thanks.

Answer
Hello Akira,

Dry sphagnum peat moss will keep indefinitely. The moss itself contains some iodine which helps preserve it. This is why many mummified remains are found in peat bogs. Once it is dampened, the moss will begin to slowly decompose again.
