Magnolia Tree Leaves Wilting

Question
We transplanted a 10 foot magnolia tree in March of this year.  The leaves yellowed and spotted at first and many dropped off but it came back nice and green with lots of flowers over the summer.  Now (Oct), leaves are turning yellow and dropping again.  What can we do? Hate to lose this tree!

Answer
Cath:

Some occasional leaf drop isn't of too much concern, especially inner leaves. If you have some bare branches visible, try scratching a few with your fingernail.  If you seen green beneath the bark, things are probably OK.  Also examine the trunk for bark damage/injury. Lawnmowers and string trimmers are a death sentence on trees and shrubs!

Thanks for your inquiry.
