My Trees are DYING!

Question
Hello Jim!  I need help. My husband & I just built a new home in Lehigh Acres, FL on a small canal. We've been here less than 3 months. When they cleared the lot we asked if they could keep as many trees as possible. Well, I don't know why but it seems all of our Pine Trees are DYING! We were told the soil/ground shouldn't have been packed down around them -- Is it too late to save them? We have one VERY LARGE, old tree that will absolutely break my heart to lose. Is there anything we can do?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Kim Boone

Answer
I really can not answer this question without seeing the trees and the conditions they are growing in. I would suggest you contact the Florida Div. of Forestry ( state agency) and ask one of their Forester to come take a look and advise you. Here is the contact web for the county Forester just use the drop down menu to find your county.
