Fruit tree fungus

Question
I have several varieties of apple trees. Although they have been planted at least two years I saw one of the new ones with a white powdery substance on it's branches. That white powdery substance appears to be spreading to other trees. The substance appears to easily wash off when hit with a water hose but always returns. Is this a fungas? What should I spray or dust with and when? Thanks very much

Answer
Hi Bruce, you have aphids which can be controlled with an insecticidal spray, read the label as many have poison in them.  Or you can go organically with Pure Neem Oil spray or a new product on the market called Atomic Grow, both of which are organic. You will never get rid of it by just watering with a hose.   kathy
