orange spots on apple tree leaves

Question
QUESTION: I have orange spots on my apple tree leaves.  The tree is young and has two small apples.  We recently experienced two weeks straight without rain.  Any clew?

ANSWER: David:
Can you send me a closeup photo of a leaf with the spots? So many spots look alike. Be sure to review your image on your computer to be sure it is in focus before you send.

Thanks
Steve

QUESTION: Thanks for the response Steve.  I'm sorry it took a long time to get pics.  (A digital age blunder).  Here's a picture of what we have on the leaves. Thank you

Answer
David:
I would be suspicious of a fungus disease called cedar-apple rust. It produces large orange spots on leaves and on fruit. On the leaves the center of the spot has a small raised spiny structure in the center.

Take a look at the web address for a bulletin I produced on CAR.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
