Wilting Lilac Bush

Question
This morning when I let my dogs out I noticed how many buds where on one of my Lilac's. About an Hr. later when I went back out, I saw the leaves and buds wilting...or drooping. The other Lilac planted next to it is fine! We have had quite a bit of rain so that can't be the problem.....But thats what it reminds me of Drooping.. I do not see any discoloration of the leaves or insects. What could have happened in 1-2 hrs?

Like you, I am at a loss to what could cause this to happen in just a short time.  Give the plant a good look over, especially near the soil line.  Look for any obvious injury where the bark may have been damaged. Is it possible that you could have overlooked the drooping the first time?  Has this plant been in your landscape for awhile or is it a newly planted bush?

Steve
