weed killer

Question
my room mate used weed killer- Round Up on the weeds in the grass and now the lilac bushes that are in the area, are wilting, one is about half way from the bottom to the middle of the bush wilted.  Will this poison kill the bush?  Or will it be ok soon or by next year again?  Will the poison affect the roots?  the lilac bushes were planted 3 years ago.
thank you

Answer
Yes Roundup will kill almost any green plant. What has happened is the spray "drift" got on the leaves of the lilac and will kill the leaves it touched. Since it was not directly sprayed on the bush it may make it--I would make sure the bush has plenty of water. Note for next time do not spray when the wind is blowing and make sure the spray from roundup dose not get on any plant not wanting to be killed.
