worms on lanai

Question
I live in Bonita Springs, FL.  Everytime we get a heavy rain, I get hundreds of very small worms on my lanai.  They are about one inch long and very thin.  I caulked the outside along the bottom, but they still get through the screen, etc. All I have done lately is clean my lanai.  When I am home, I sweep them out when it is raining.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Phyllis, the best control for worms is an organic product called BT.

BT is an organic insecticide which is short for Bacillus thuringiensis, more commonly sold under the brand names Dipel or MVP. It is a dust that is non-toxic to humans and beneficials but highly effective against caterpillars and worms. You can purchase this product through on-line catalogs such as Gardens Alive or locally at many garden centers.

I hope this answered your question.  Please write again if I can ever be of assistance.

Regards,

Mike
