peach tree pest

Question
my young grape size peaches r falling off tree bcus of a small white worm inside them tree is 2 year old dwarf reliance need a plan 4 future pest control central ny syracuse suburb

Answer
Fruit trees need to be sprayed beginning with a dormant oil spray in late winter and then every two weeks following the first sign of budding. I avoid spraying during the blooming stage, but begin immediately again after the petals fall. You can use organic products such as soap shield and pyrethrum, which are sold on line by Gardens Alive, or use an all-purpose fruit spray sold at your local garden center. These products also eliminate peach leaf curl, a fungus disease that causes leaves to curl and fall off due to wet springs. Although the leaves will grow back several weeks later, you will not get fruit.

I hope this answered your question. Good luck, and please write again if I can ever provide assistance.

Regards,

Mike
