Peach Tree + Pest = problem

Question
I have a sap on the base of the peach tree. I am thinking it may be bores. How can I treat this?

In addition, this poor tree has scabes on the bark. which treatment would you recommed that is safe. Thanks!

Answer
JoAnn, I would start out with a light horticultural oil to destroy any insects and their eggs. There are many oils on the market today that can be applied throughout the growing season.

Ten days following the oil application, I would begin a general spray program. Use an all-purpose spray that includes both a fungicide and and insecticide. These products are also readily available through most garden centers.

If you prefer to stay with organic products, I purchase mine through two companies on the web. I have attached the links below. Just type fruit trees or fungicides in their search fields for more information on their product line.
