Peach tree – Planting

Q: We recently bought a peach tree in a pot. It has already started fruiting. Would it be better to wait until after it produces its fruit to plant it or should we plant it in the ground?

A: It’s best for the peach to plant it now and remove all of the fruit before they grow larger. It takes a tremendous amount of energy for a tree to make fruit. That energy would be better used growing roots this summer. If you leave fruit on the tree, it might not produce peaches again for a couple of years.
