Grubs and grass

Question
I have lost the grass on my septic field twice now from  grubs. I did buy a load of nice topsoil the first time, spread it all around and re-planted my lawn. Looked great for one year and then last year the grubs killed it all by the end of June. This year I bought bags of topsoil and filled in all the bare areas, tilled the top soil in after sprinkling some sevin in with it, and planted more grass. All the grass came up and looked great until July when the crabgrass came up and took over.
Question is- what can I do next? I put grub-ex down after a month of mowing, but I think my new lawn is gone again. If I use a pre-emergent for the crabgrass, then my regular grass seed won't come up, will it? I am at my wits end. I did get some milky spore but haven't used it yet.

Answer
Although Grub-ex is a great short term control, it must be applied every year. This can be expensive, especially if you have a large yard.

The best natural control for grubs is Milky Spore. This is an organic product which kills only the grubs, while sparing earthworms. Another benefit to milky spore is that it lasts for up to 15 years without needing to be reapplied. The only downside is that it can be costly. But given the fact you only need to apply it once every 15-20 years, it is the least expensive alternative over the long term.

Attached is a website which will give you additional information, as well as a source from which to purchase the product.

I hope this information helps. Please write again if I can ever be of assistance.
