WEEDS AND BURNT GRASS

Question
Hello, hopefully you can help me..We recently bought our home in late February...We have lots of tress and beautiful landscaping..we have about an acre of land..the problem is when spring was coming in I had a million dandelions and weeds coming out at a rapid rate...I thought I could get rid of weeds and dandelions by sraying roundup directly on them. All I did was puy about 20 to 30 burnt spots on my lawn..looks horrible..I applied lime and have applied Preen weed and dandelion granular twice..seems to have helped just a little in controlling weeds and dandelions but still getting them..not to great in taking care of lawn..learning as I go,,what can I do to get grass to grow back in burn spota and what can I use on my lawn to make it look attractive without hurting my pockets..thank you

Answer
I would get a couple of bags of topsoil. Pour about a 1/2 inch layer of soil onto each of the burnt spots, then sprinkle some seed on top and mix it in gently. Try to water every day that you do not receive rain.

The results you get during the hotter summer months may not be as great as you'd hope for, but it should definitely improve. Whatever does not grow back quickly will probably fill in in the fall.

In the future, definitely look out for "selective" weed control products. They are easily available at any garden center or big box store. When used correctly, they will kill off the weeds without hurting the grass at all.

Good luck!
