Blueberry netting

Question
Hello, I was wondering if you know of any netting that I can use to put over about 15 blueberry bushes that is designed to keep the bugs off, but let all sunlight in?  I don't want to spray the blueberries with anything and we are certified organic.  Thanks, Tim

Answer
Dear Tim:

You can purchase blueberry netting for bird protection, but bug protection netting would be a tall order!!  Since you're certified organic; then I would recommend you consider using one of the "Organic Gardening" Magazine's homemade insect sprays using ingredients found in most kitchens.  This is the recipe for their All-Purpose Insect Pest Spray:

Chop, grind, or liquefy 1 garlic bulb and 1 small onion.  Add 1 teaspoon of powdered cayenne pepper and mix with 1 quart of water.  Steep 1 hour, strain through cheesecloth, then add 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap to the strained liquid; mix well. Spray plants thoroughly, being sure to cover the undersides of leaves.  Store the mixture for up to 1 week in a labeled, covered container in the refrigerator.

Good luck!
