Question
We have loads of brown moths approx.3/4 in long on all of the shrubs around the foundation.  My lambs ear is full fo holes and we aren't sure about damage to other plants yet.  Each time we water, feed or spray insecticide they fly out of the plants.  I have never seen this happen with plants before.  Please provide some advice.  We are located in the tidewater area of Va

The best way to control moths and their larvae is a product called BT.  BT is an organic insecticide which is short for Bacillus Thuringiensis. It is a dust that is non-toxic to humans and beneficial insects (bees and butterflies) but highly effective against moths, caterpillars, and tomato hornworms.  You can purchase it on-line at Gardens Alive or at a nursery near you.
