How long does dormancy last???

Question
Hi -- I'm worried.  I'm a bit of a "lawn-Nazi" and I seem to recall
that each yar by Easter, I have the greenest looking lawn on the
block.  ChemLawn maintains my lawn, I live in Montclair (northern)
NJ.  Here it is near mid April and my lawn is 50% brown / yellow.
ChemLawn has come and sprayed their first application and said
everyhting looks fine and the lawn is coming out of dormancy.  It
just seems that all my neighbor's lawns are doing so much better.
Am I really that short of patience?  many thanks!!!

Answer
Lawns are only starting to come out of dormancy now. In a few weeks they should start to grow faster and turn green. It depends a bit on the micro climate (southern / northern exposures), grass type and number of days with warmer temperatures. In May, the lawns should look very lush.
