leaves and lime

Question
In the last year I have been able to start a compost area for my flower and
plant beds for spring next year. However, I am collecting leaves from this fall
and thought about putting lime on them to decompose them to soil for
certain areas that need some help. These areas are barren. No grass, nothing,
gravel like. So I was thinking decompose the leaves to start a fresh bed in
those areas specifically. But how do I treat leaves with lime?.... I went around
the block to get to the corner huh? hahaha... thanks in advance...

Answer
I would avoid Liming those leaves -- they are not acidic yet and when they are, it will be the most minor tilt.  You don't want to make them distasteful to the microbes that break them down, do you?  Keep the Lime on the Grass and ONLY if you need it.  Test your Soil to see if you even NEED to Lime.  Best wishes,

L.I.G.
