Soil

Question
I have a house that had an above ground  with a deck around it. I took down the pool and want to fill in the area and deck the area. What is the most inexpensive soil or fill to use. The area is 15 feet round by 6 inches deep. I figure that I will need about 6.5 cubic yards. Is my math correct?

Thanks

Answer
A 15 foot diameter area is 47 square feet.  If you only need to fill 6 inches, then the volume would be 24 cubic feet, or about 1 cubic yard (27 cubic feet = 1 cubic yard).

The cheepest dirt is usually a hole you've dug for something else on-site...do you need any post holes or a new flower bed anywhere in the yard?

If not, then standard fill dirt costs about $10 in bulk, here in Nevada.  For less than 10, you'll pay a premium for delivery (a dump-truck carries anywhere from 10 to 15 yards).

Hope it helps.
