soil ph

Question
I live in Oakland, ontario and wanted to plant a couple of blueberry plants in my garden,  I was told I need acidic soil, ph levels 4.5 to 5, how do I tell the ph levels of my soil? and do you think its possible to plant just a couple of plants in a home garden and get a crop off them?.

Answer
Hi Linda, you can purchase a pH test kit or pH meter at any garden center and many garden centers will test your soil pH for free if you take them a sample.  Three to four plants should yield you an abundance of berries in a few years.  A mature plant may produce 15 lbs. or more. Jim
