Interlocking Pavers

Question
Hello,
Thank-You for your time spent on this site. I have two  questions. We have just installed a pool. I will be doing some interlock pavers around the pools concrete deck. I have dug the topsoil down 8" and plan to add limestone screenings. Have I dug down far enough? I live in Canada so the ground will freeze. I don't know if you can help with the next question. The pool builder plumded in some poly pipe, incase I would like to add a water feature later. Is there a web site you might know that I could get some ideas? The only water features I ever see are the ones made with ugly grey flagstone. Thanks a lot for your time. Dave

Answer
As I live in work in Georgia, I am not familiar with your particular frost depth requirements. Some places in Canada the frost depth is 48" or more. I would consult with your paver supplier and ask them about the depth of aggregates you will need in your area for the intended use (vehicular or pedestrian only). You may even require a geo-textile to help disperse frost action on the pavers. If your paver supplier is a local home supply shop that does not have educated sales force then consult a local hardscape/paving company. The question to ask is simply what depth of sub-base you require.

As for water feature ideas, the internet is a good place to look or if you are not in a hurry you can subscribe to a pool magazine (揚ool and Spa? or trade publication like "Water Shapes". I always just search pools and select the images tab in my search engine.

But first go to www.google.com and select the 慽mages?tab then try "Googling" 搘ater feature? 搘ater falls? 損ool features? 搒wimming pool? fountains, 損ool fountain? or some permutation or combination of these words.

Good Luck on you projects.
