Flagstone durability

Question
I am considering installing flagstone in my patio. One of the contractors told me that pavers would be a better choice as they are lot more durable and longer lasting. Flagstone on the other hand could crack and the grout would need to be redone in 3-4 years. Is that true/typical?

Answer
yes, but pavers fade and need to be sealed and re-sealed to keep their color and can also be deformed by roots. Its really a choice of design rather than longevity. Both, if done correctly will last and look good for a long time. Pavers are cheaper and easier, too.
Its your call.

Good Luck
Sean
