Question
I would like to install pavers on stone dust only, not with crush stone for the base. It's only 4'x 40' flat area.

Please forgive me for not responding before now. My mom has been very ill and I have had to spend considerable time at the hospital. Unfortunately, they do not have Internet access so my time online recently has been very limited. I hope it has not been too much of an inconvenience for you in waiting for my response. Please forgive me if it has.

Installation of pavers:

I would strongly suggest that you visit the manufacturers web site for the pavers that you have purchased and see what they recommend.

In our application of pavers, we always install a water permeable weed barrier (www.dewittcompany.com), then a sub-base of compressed crushed gravel and limestone. Once this sub base has been thoroughly stabilized with water and mechanical tamping, we lay down up to an inch of builders sand (depending on the size and weight of pavers) to which we lay the pavers to. We have found that this application is longest lasting and most durable.
