Several zones not working

Question
QUESTION: I have a Hunter ICC, zones 2-8 won't turn on from the controller but will if I manually turn the valve on. Zones 1 and 9-13 work fine. I'm getting 27 volts at zone 1 when it's on, but when zone 2 comes on I'm getting 27 volts on  zones 2-8 at the same time.

ANSWER: You can try cleaning the circuit board of the controller, I suggest using canned air and some electronics spray cleaner.  But if this doesnt work, probably time to replace the controller.

QUESTION: I also tried to see if any of the valves are damaged by moving, for example, zone 2 wire to zone 1 to see if it will come on since I know that zone 1 works, but I can't get zone 2 to come on. Is it possible that the valves are damaged somehow??

Answer
More likely the wiring to the valves or at the valves.  Its hard to trace wiring, but check all the wiring connections at the valves.  Replace the bad ones with waterproof wire nuts if they look bad.  Make sure that all the wires are connected at the terminals on the controller, especially the common wire (usually a white wire).
