Soaker Hose

Question
We have a spring fed pond that we use for watering.  This year we installed a soaker/drip irrigation system for the garden.  After about a week we started having issues with the soaker hoses no longer dripping.  After some research we discovered that the soaker lines are being "clogged" by algae growing in them.  Right now, we are going out every other day to poke holes in the soaker hoses to water the plants.  Is there anything that we can do to stop the growth of the algae in the lines.  Thanks

Answer
Its going to be really difficult using pond water, which has all the organisms in it to grow algae.  You can try filtration, using a very fine screen filter, something about 200 mesh or more.  You can also try adding a little chlorine to the water as it goes into the system.
