punctured hose/line

Question
Rookie mistake. I punctured my sprinkler system hose line. How can I repair this?

Thank you.

Answer
Hey Charlie, I hope this helps. Depending on the line you are talking about, I'm going to assume it is a black polyethelene (poly) pipe. If it goes to heads, or is your mainline and goes to the valves, then you can use an insert type of fitting. All you do, is dig around the pipe and expose about a foot of pipe both sides of the break. You will cut the pipe at the break, and slide a hose clamp on both ends of the pipe. Now the fitting will fit inside the pipe on both sides you just cut. Slide the clamps over the pipe over the fitting, and tighten the clamps down. Let me know if I can be of anymore help. Thanks and have a great day.
