zone 3 has an "err" flashing, what all could this be?

If all the other stations are working properly, it is probably either a loose connection in the valve wire, at the controller or at the valve, or a problem with the valve solenoid.  Check the wiring connections first, and if the problem still exists, it is most likely a bad solenoid.
