Controller fuse blows at station five

Question
My hunter system was acting up.  I discovered that the .75 amp fuse was blown.  I replaced the fuse and the system ran until it switched to station five.  On the controller there was a brief flash "err" and the fuse blew again.  Two questions, I have two solenoid boxes in the yard, one if front one in back.  How do I tell which solenoid is for station five, and once I get that sorted out, How can I test that solenoid to see if that's the issue?  And what else should I test?  short, ground? etc

Thanks
Larry

Answer
Hey Larry, I hope this helps. Depending on what brand valve you have, most valves can be opened manually (without the controller) by either opening a bleed screw on the valve, or turning the solenoid counter-clockwise. Since I do not know which valve you have, I can only hope you know how to turn your valve on manually. You can also unscrew the solenoid off the valve, and the valve will work manually. Since all the other valves are opening by the controller, go to each valve and turn them on manually(by the bleed screw, solenoid, etc.). Eliminate all the valves until you find the one that runs valve #5. Now at the solenoid to valve #5, un-hook the two wires. Now go to the controller and turn valve #5 on by the controller. If the fuse still blows, then the problem is in your wiring, if it doesn't blow, then it is the solenoid. Let me know if I can be of anymore help, thanks and have a great day.
