RD 900 FUS

Question
I noticed my lawn was dry and checked the RD 900 panel; it reports FUS and shows all circuits (1-5).  The manual says bad solenoid but it seems unlikely that I blew them all.  No electrical storms here in sunny Phoenix.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hey Tony, I hope this helps. More than likely, you have a common field wire that is shorting out on your hot field wires. What I would suggest, is to disconnect your common field wire from the lower panel in the back of the controller. And once you get your controller re-set, turn a station on one at a time and see if you still get this message. If you don't get the message, then you have a problem out in the field. If you still get this message, then the problem is in your controller. I would also suggest hooking the common field wire back up, and if it is not the controller that is at fault, turn each station on manually by the controller one at a time, and see if it gives you this message on just one station, or when you turn on all the stations. If it shorts out on all the stations, then you have a wiring problem, if it just shorts out on an individual station, then it is probably just the solenoid on this one station. Good luck and have a great day.
