Sprinklers dont work

Question
QUESTION: I have a 6 zone Rainbird system at my house that is giving me fits. My controller counts down every station but no water comes out of any of them. I located my master cutoff and my master valve. I can open the "vent" on the top of the diaphragm housing and all stations but one work; only water leaks from the "vent". I tried replacing the solenoid, but with the same results. Could it be the diaphragm?

ANSWER: Hi Darrell

The "master cutoff and my master valve" this sounds like the backflow valve. Yes could be the diaphragm. The "vent" is the small screw next to the selenoid it is the valve bleed, when open it leaks and if the zone valve is open it will watering. I'm assuming you have electric valves for the zones. Check that all valves wires are secured at both ends (the controller and the selenoid)

QUESTION: Thanks for your help. The master cutoff is my manual cutoff that is located right by the water supply; it actually has 2 manual valves. My master valve is the one located next after the manual valves. I was told this is my master valve for my system (blue wire and white wire). I do have electric valves for all of my zones; only I can not find one of them and this is the zone that does not work...

Answer
Hi
you can follow the wires from the controller to the valves. At homes usually they are close one to another. If it is not your situation you need to" tone" or" track" the valve. Disconnect the valve wire fron the controller connect the transmitter red lead to the wire and the back lead to a good ground, walk with the receiver following the bip. A toner cost about$ 150 and a tracker about$ 750. Probably you can rent one.
