sawgrass ?


Question
What is and does Sawgrass look like ? I cannot find it by just entering sawgrass in the keyword box. I live in Kountze, Tx USA.. which is almost a 2 hour drive North of Houston, Tx... I don't know the climate zone except for VERY Humid and HOT :)

sawgrass is actually a sedge plant, not a grass. it is a graminoid ("V" shaped)-family of Cyperceae(Cladium jamaicense). it has teeth along its' leaves-thus sawgrass. it spreads by underground rhizomes. you will find it abundantly in the everglades of southern FL where it withstands many adverse conditions(heat, rain, fire, etc.).
