Question
Dear Rick

I am hoping you can help me identified a plant that I got @ home depot about a year ago that was labelled a lipstick plant but is not.  It's hanging in a window and has started to creep like an ivy.  It has small to medium sized dark sturdy leaves that curl slightly.  It also has clusters of small white flowers that when open look fuzzy on the edges and have a very small tan-beigy star in the center and the smell like a really strong lily .  I am having trouble finding out what it is.  I have eliminated jasmine from pictures i've viewed online.   I appreciate any help you could give

                 Thanks

Answer
my 1st guess would be a hoya(hindu rope plant). the flower sounds like a hindu rope plant flower. a lipstick plant should have a flower that looks like lipstick rolled out. latin name aeschynanthus radicans - synonym trichosporum. as there are many varieties it still may be a lipstick plant hybrid. check out the 2 latin names given by typing them into your search engine.
email a photo(jpeg) to   [email protected]
and i'll see what i can do. put plant ID on subject line.
good luck
rick
