Disease attacking cucumbers

Question
Hi,I live in the Washington DC area,I planted several Straight8 variety cucumbers from seed. They have so far produced abundantly but in the last few weeks the leaves ,mostly lower are getting yellow spots which turn brown and leave torn holes and wilting edges. Now knowing from several sources that cucumber beetles do damage to plants I have already sprayed Sevin which I was told would help. But this seems to be a fungus ,the stems of the plants are still green,Confused because there are so many chemicals on the market I settled on Neem,(concentrate).I have applied it according to directions I have 4 vines planted in a row and the two furthest to the left which was doing bad has improved,I of course have removed the infested leaves but now the one furthest to the right which was in decent shape virtually every leave has shriveled I probably should pull the plant out and dispose of it.What should I do or continue to do? I read there are varieties resistant or tolerant to wilt diseases and fungus,Should I pull all infected plants? When I remove the leaves should I cut part of the stem or all of the part if it has yellowed? I have been doing that.We have had so much rain and humid weather. As I write the remnants of Charlie are making thier way here and all that rain is not going to help my plants. My other vegetables, tomatos and peppers are doing fine except for the occasional splitting on a few lower fruit.

Answer
Hi Peter, sounds as though you are doing all that is recommended for this problem, the wet weather is a Big part of this trouble you are having and I can only tell you to keep doing what you are doing and choose a different and very well drained location for next year! GOOD LUCK!
