Growing Turnips in washington state

Question
QUESTION: How can I keep worms from getting into my turnips, also bugs etc from eating up leaves, Thank you

ANSWER: William:

For bugs eating your leaves spray with friendly Sevin on both sides of the leaves.

For the worms, ask your local agent for slug killers. I think that the worms will eat this also.

Best wishes.

QUESTION: On using the slug killer do I put it in the soil when planting?

Answer
Willam:

If you have not planted already then you have no problems with worms. If your problem is with worms associated with planting that you have already done then please use the slug killer. I also recommend that you use a nematode and fungus resistant product in the soil.

I must say that worms eating the turnips is unusual.

Keep me informed as to you program and plans.

Best wishes.
