Expert Gardener Indoor & Outdoor Plant food

Question
QUESTION: I bought some Expert Gardener Indoor and Outdoor Plant food and the Nitrogen level is 19 on it. Will I get any vegetables from it or just leaves and steams and how will I add the other stuff my plants will need?

ANSWER: Prince,

Add in your fertilizer and let your plants tell you what more they may need. If the stems are spindly and not very strong they need phosphorus, if they are green and producing lots of leaves but no fruit they need more potassium.

Most veggies need a good amount of nitrogen especially the leafy veggies like lettuce, spinach, green onions so if you are growing these types of plants they will love this kind of fertilizer.  If you are growing root crops or fruiting crops they may also need phosphorus and potassium. Bone meal and rock dust (or green sand) are good sources and can be added to the soil along with your nitrogen fertilizer.

For more info on soil fertilization I have an ebook http://www.your-vegetable-gardening-helper.com/why-is-soil-so-important.htm that may be helpful.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

QUESTION: It also has 6 and 12 on the container. Is that enough phosphorus and potassium for the Plants?

Answer
Yes, the other two numbers are potassium and phosphorus.  It sounds like it is an all purpose fertilizer so will work well for your vegetable plants. Read the instructions on the package to see how much is best to add for your area.
