Growing Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)

Growing Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)

Plant Fine Chives in full sun and average, well-drained soil. They form the same 1ft-tall clumps as regular Chives (Allium schoenoprasum), but their leaves are more refined and tender, tend to regrow faster after cutting, and develop woody stems more slowly. The flowers can be added to salads or used to flavor vinegar. Plants can be divided in spring. They will spread by seed if spent flower heads are not cut off. Water when the top 1in of soil is dry to the touch. Feed monthly with a balanced fertilizer. Hardy in Zones 3-9.
