Landscaping Companies

Landscaping companies should ideally offer a full array of services to meet the needs of customers, whether they're corporate clients or individual homeowners. A friendly staff with a wide breadth of knowledge is crucial to a well-functioning landscaping company. Years of experience and a good reputation are great assets, but these should also be coupled up-to-date knowledge of landscaping and ecological issues.

Here's one example. In the past, landscaping companies were the chief vendors, installers, and maintainers of grass lawns. Their duties invariably included adding fertilizers and pesticides to keep these lawns in tip-top condition. In the 20th century, every homeowner's pride and joy was a plush, green lawn. To not have a front yard comprised of rolling green grass was unthinkable.

Environmentally Conscious Landscaping

Today, however, environmental concerns about water waste, as well as runoff from toxins in fertilizers and pesticides, have revealed the problematic nature of grass. In parts of the United States, and especially in the arid southwest, where grass requires constant watering in order to survive, the use of grass has fallen into disfavor with many landscaping experts. Instead, they prefer a more ecologically conscious approach.

For grass, landscapers may substitute native flowers, plants, and grasses that can easily handle the climate, growing naturally without the need for excess water or chemical treatments. This kind of approach is ultimately easier on you, the landowner, for it requires less expense and maintenance. It also gives you peace of mind to know that such a source of beauty and enjoyment is not damaging to the earth, or to future generations.
