Flower Selection - Center Piece

Question
Hi,

What flowers would go well in an aparment that has Mexican Chile (200D-6 by Behr Paint) painted walls? The color is in the red/brown family.

Thanks,
Clarie

Answer

Autumn in the City
Hi Clarie
My first thought for your chile tone would be a strong yellow, so depending on the season(fall, for example) you could use sunflowers, gerbera daisies, gladiolas, calla lilies, tulips, golden dahlias or marigolds(sometimes found at farmers markets).
Also, if you have access to lots of varieties of orchid plants(ie. Trader Joe's or Home Depot), a yellow oncidium would look amazing. It has a touch of rust along with the yellow, and usually has lots of blooms. Always look for one with some unopened flowers so it lasts.
Your backdrop is dramatic, so your flowers will easily be a focal point, and the color will really pop if you complement it with yellow/gold.
Have fun!
I'm sending along a photo in your color palette.
Best Regards
Peggy

Hi Clarie
To answer your other question, I love the use of pink with your walls.
I've done many arrangements with rust colored roses paired with (soft)pink ranunculus, gerberas, and a fleshy pink almost beige rose called "sahara" and its surprisingly pretty together. It is also a nice change for holiday colors(with pine etc) rather than using red.
For spring pink tulips or gerberas bursting out of a mat of lime green flowers (cut very short and pushed into floral foam)would be a fun look.
Thanks for your questions!
Best Regards
Peggy
