I live in Massachusetts, what can I add to my compost that will speed up the composting?

Hi Ray,  First, you need the microbes that do the work.  You can add those by buying a "Compost Maker" product from you local garden center or do what I do, just add a shovel full of good garden soil with each layer you add.  Next, you need Nitrogen.  I like to use nitrate of soda, but ammonia nitrate or urea will work.  I add a little every month when I turn the pile to keep it loose.  Jim
