hanging plant   could you please tell me what kind of plant this is, so i know how to take care of it.

Without a further description it appears to be a plant commonly known as Spanish Thyme, Cuban Oregano or Indian Borage. The latin name is Plectranthus amboinicus. It has a strong scent and can be used in cooking. It loves the sun. Do not allow it to sit in a tray full of water for long periods. It comes in the variegated variety that you have and also a solid green variety.
