How long can a seed remain dormant for the "monkey ear tree", actually it is the state tree for Costa Rica.  I have a ear pod that I have had for a long time, and I want to know if I can use the seeds that are inside.  Thanks

Thanx for your question.  Most seeds will stay viable for a year or more.  If it is a seed like a bean probably 2 years if it doesn't have to be exposed to heat and humidity.  If the seed is in a pod this could increase the viability for another year or more.  Most seeds will not be viable after 2 years.  I hope this helps.
