what am I doing wrong??

Question
Hi
Started my seeds 2-3 weeks ago.  35% are at the cotelydon stage, the rest, nothing!  They are growing tall and spindly with white stems, I have approx 6 or 7 different varieties.  Am I giving too much water or too much sun?  I am using "no damp"  I recently moved the tall sickly looking ones out of the south sun.  What am I doing wrong?

Answer
Hi Bonny-Jean,
Thanx for your question.  You didn't say what kind of seeds you have.  But the problem is light.  There are some plants that will not grow well in the window sill and will require light directly over them like a shop light 8 inches above the seedlings.  The sun just isn't strong enough in most of the US until May or so and so the seedlings get leggy.  You can buy plant stands with lights in them.  If you make your own don't use incandescent bulbs, use flourescent 40 watts.  I hope this helps.
