Aloe plants

Question
Are there male and female aloe plants?  I have numerous aloe plants but only one blooms and shoots baby plants.

Thank you.

Answer
Dear Merilyn,

I do not believe that there are male and female plants. Flowering has more to do with maturity and most produce "pups" that can be broken off and replanted. Clustering Aloes like Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) produce "pups" and flowers.

Tree Aloes like Aloe Dichotoma (Kokerboom) do not produce "pups" and take a long time before flowers are produced. Their are many types of Aloes and they are all beautiful plants. I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg
