Thanx for your question.  Peat moss is vegetative matter that is decomposed or partially decomposed in a wet environment (usually a bog or swamp).  Peat bogs occur primarily in the Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and Germany.  Peat moss includes many different kinds of vegetative matter, not just trees but also leaves and plants life.  This can be coniferous or deciduous trees, leaves, needles and other plant matter.  I hope this helps.
