would a redbud have any troubles growing next to an older pine tree?

Hi Nicholas,
Thanx for your question. There should be no problem with a redbud growing next to a pine tree as long as the red bud gets 6-8 hours of sunlight. If the pine tree is shading the redbud, it will be spindly and may not survive. I hope this helps.
