starting tee nuts from seed

Question
Hi tom, I have always done good starting black walnut,  english walnut,American chestnut and butternut trees from seed. Now I am looking to try others and was looking for some information on these. I would like to start almonds, pecans and hazelnuts. I was wondering on starting them indoors in refrigderator for the winter and then plant in the spring. If you could help with indoor winter starting on these, it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Jeremy,
Thanx for your question.  You can basically start the seeds you mentioned in your posting the same way you did the walnuts, chesnuts and butternuts.  Plant the seeds in a pot, seal it in a baggie and store it in the fridge for 90 days.  Return it to warm environment (65-70F).  Seeds germinate and have first set of true leaves, carefully transplant to separate pots until they are strong enough to survive on their own in a sunny location.  I hope this helps.
Tom
